Perspective

Last night before falling asleep Jer and I were chatting- you know, the normal end of day wrap-up.

He says, "I can't believe you are gonna have the baby in like 60 days!"

Funny how to one person that seems so soon, and the other.... not so much.

Twin Mommies

Showing up to church in the same dress as someone else is a little awkward.

Showing up to church in the same dress as your good friend is even more awkward.

Showing up to church in the same dress as your good friend who is the primary chorister when you are the primary pianist is just plain awesome!

And guess how many people asked if it was planned.... RIIIIIGHT!

Put me on the DL...

We rented this game a few days ago and my elbow has not been the same since. Good thing it is due back tomorrow, otherwise my arm just might never recover.

Memory Lane

Here is a fun little game, but I'm changing it because it's my blog and I can. So leave a comment about a memory you have of me. It doesn't matter if you've known me for a short time or a long time, or only in cyberspace (cuz I've never met my friend Kristen in real life, but my favorite memory of her is when she forgot to put a bra on one Sunday morning and had to present Sharing Time. Sorry... but you are NEVER gonna live that one down. It's just too hilarious.) It can be funny, embarrassing, whatever. Anything that you remember!

Come on, I promise it will be fun. I think...

Nanimo Bars Recipe

Here's the recipe for Nanimo Bars, straight from Jeremy's grandma. I tweaked some of the ratios a bit since her original recipe called for a 9x9 pan and I didn't have one.
In the microwave or double boiler melt
1/2 c. butter
1/4 c. sugar
1 tsp vanilla
5 Tbsp cocoa
Cool the mixture slightly and add one beaten egg.
Mix together
2 c. crushed graham crackers
1 c. coconut flakes
1/2 c. chopped walnuts
Combine both mixtures and press into a 9x13 pan.
Cream together
4 c. powdered sugar
1/4 c. milk
2 Tbsp Birds Custard Powder (this may not be at your local grocery but it is available online, and for sure in Canada, ha ha. If you don't want to get the powder Kate says she uses vanilla pudding and can't taste a difference, but my MIL says she can taste a difference. So... I wouldn't know, I haven't tried the pudding version. I'm just givin' you guys options)
1 c. butter
Spread frosting on top of crust and chill. Melt 8 squares of semi-sweet chocolate (if you like dark you can use that instead) and 2 Tbsp butter. Mix and spread on top of the frosting mixture and chill until set.

I *<3* Sugar

Kate posted about these and now I CAN NOT get them out of my head.

If you haven't tried one they are to die for.

Just look at all that sugary goodness.

They are quite possibly the best dessert on the planet.

Good thing I married into a partial Canadian family...
otherwise I may have lived the rest of my life without these babies. And that would be a very sad existence, indeed.

Backpack, Backpack, Load it up with lots of stuff....

If your 2-year old daughter has a plethora of princess and Dora panties, yet you can only find a stray few try checking her backpack. All will be revealed.

Contents of backpack:
2 pairs of pants
3 shirts
one pair of tennis shoes
two pairs of socks
one hair bow
AND 9 pairs of panties

Jeremy showed her the backpack and told her that is not where you put your clothes.

Her response? "It's where I put my clothes when I go on a trip."

Man she's good!! I can't wait until she's a teen... the responses will be even more well thought out. Watch out world.

He said she said

Yesterday Brynns asked if she could bring her Barbie to church. When I told her no she replied with "But she's wearing a church dress!" She's too smart for her own good.

Last week we had dinner with our good friends, and the conversation turned to picky eaters. Jessica said her dad would tell them to eat their vegetables because it would put hair on their chests. In a family of 7 girls that didn't go over real well. Then Kaden announces "My mom has hair on her chest!" Nice. And in case you are wondering, I don't.

Jer and I went to the Stake Center for interviews yesterday. A little background: We love the Stake Clerk. He used to be in our ward and is hilarious. I don't think I have ever been around him without him making me laugh out loud. He also secured his spot in my good graces because Jeremy worked frequently on Sundays the few years after Kaden was born. Since I was teaching YW it made it hard to deal with a squirmy baby. Every Sunday that Jeremy was gone Tom would find me after Sunday School and snatch Kaden. Seriously, how many men willingly seek out a 6 month old to take to Preisthood?

So back to the story.... As I sit down, he says: "Am I ever gonna see you NOT pregnant?" and continues "I guess the problem is that everyone knows you are pregnant like 3 weeks into it. So it just seems like you are pregnant forever." Yeah, tell me about it. Coming from a stranger that would have been dangerous ground, but anyone who knows me knows it is completely true. That being said I'm tired of being pregnant.

Unfortunately for me, the countdown is still a pretty large number. Too many trips to the bathroom, too many contractions, not enough sleep or food. I feel like a bottomless pit. Around 8pm I'm totally ready for my second dinner and I'm sure the scale will reflect that healthy habit on the next appointment. Yay! So, yeah that's what my life is kind of about right now. The ugly large, starving, sleep-deprived, aching state of pregnancy. But this too shall pass, hopefully sooner rather than later.

I'm a little nerdy, I suppose...

I got a link to my 10-year HS reunion about a month ago. They set up a myspace page and I am SO NOT myspace saavy. I got on today to finally create a page, since I am on the "missing persons" list in the reunion world.

Wow, I like facebook so much better! I'm just not getting the myspace stuff figured out... I know I sound like I'm 80. It's because in technical years I'm probably really close to being 80.

What's that you say??

It's all about keeping myself humble.

Sunday during sacrament Kaden was patting my belly and asking about the baby. I showed him where I thought the baby's back was. He thought that was so cool. Then he asked "What part of the baby is this?"

"That's not part of the baby." He was pointing one of the other roly-poochy deals I've got goin on.

"So just your fat part in the middle is the baby!" He was so proud that he had it finally figured out. I just had to laugh...

And then I had the following conversation with my dentist just this morning.

"I think you are probably due for some x-rays, right?"

"Yeah, but I can't get them can I?" me pointing to my stomach.

"OH, are you pregnant?"

"Yeeeaaah."

Good thing I love this guy like I love my VT partners husband... I'm just keepin it real over here in pregnant and plump land.

Say Cheese

Dr. J had to point out that I "didn't change at all" as she handed over the before & after pictures. She kindly overlooked the fact that my pregnant face is a little chubbier, that was nice. Seriously though, it's true. Take a look. I'm even wearing a black sweater in both pictures! Now what are the chances?

I wonder if she thinks I need an Extreme Makeover. Or maybe she's just used to seeing 13 year-olds change into 15 year-olds. I don't know, but it doesn't matter. I'm happy with the after picture all the same. {Marilyn & Tami, it's gonna be so worth it! Right Tiff?}

Before

After

{I swear I wore makeup, even though it really doesn't look like it}

I'm not mean, just kinda lazy...

I have pics to post, but I just don't feel up to loading them in the computer. How's that for motivated?? I promise I won't keep you in suspense for ever.

However today at Wal*Mart my cart included baby flannel, kids toothpaste and Efferdent. How's that for random?

I never thought I'd be buying denture cleaner... but that's what the ortho reccommends for the retainers. Maybe I should have thrown a box of Depends in there for good measure.
