Nameless is Shameless

Have you ever known someone who let their baby go without a name for a few days? Me too. While I think it's weird, I don't think it's the end of the world. But have you ever known someone who let their baby go without a name for almost a year? I do.
Yeah, that's what I thought too. They actually called him "baby" for almost his first year of life. Preposterous for sure! So guess what? Since I was so judgemental I think I may have been cursed. Because...

Baby number 3 is officially nameless in this house! This is a first for our family and I'm not diggin' it. We had names picked out by this time with the other two kidlets. But this time everything is different, and that includes the naming part.

It's not that we don't have ANYthing to go on, but we just haven't officially decided. I think we are having commitment issues over here, but I'm not sure. We have even gone so far as to ask the kids what ideas they have. Wanna hear?

Brynnlee
1. baby sister
2. baby girl

* at least she is consistent with her first name choice

Kaden
1. Alexis
2. Sunflower
3. Star
4. Daisy

* no joke, these are the names he gives me.

So needless to say we won't be leaving it up to the siblings to choose a name. But I promise we will decide before this little girl celebrates her first birthday! Wish us luck.

We never decided on an official name until the baby was born. We always had a list of ideas and a few we liked the most, but I just couldn't name my babies until I saw them face to face. I would start to wonder about you if you were still calling your baby, "baby" when she's a few months old. Now that's just wrong.

Yeah, I thought it was Ella too, which I absolutely love. But I know how hard it is to choose...you'll figure it out.

But please, not Sunflower. :)

Baby names are always hard for me too. I see some babies and there names just do not fit them, so maybe it would help your decision when you see your baby girl. I'm sure anything you pick will be cute. :)

Ella is still up for debate, but like I said we haven't officially decided anything.

Linds, can you get Jared's song and dance on tape, though? It is pretty awesome.

Dude. Sunflower would be awesome. She wouldn't get beat up at school for that either.

Please don't go a year w/o naming the child. That's just wrong, and borders on child abuse. (Seriously--how do you bless a baby without a name?)

What did they want to wait until the kid could talk to pick their own name.

I actually know someone who was so, so close to changing their kids name after a year because the one they had been using, and been named upon the records of the church, wasn't right. Fortunately, they were talked out of it.

A year? Really?? Wow... that's a long time!!
With our first one we had a few names picked out and when we saw him, we just knew.
Second one, I woke up one morning, rolled over and told Hubby "This is the name. It has to be." I had dreamt something... still can't remember what. But I was so sure of the name!!
Our last one, we had a fairly good idea, but were still tossing things around. When she was born it was like the first - we knew which name fit. :) You'll figure it out! Keep us posted :D

well I wish we had that problem...I thought with this one we would think about the name...but in the end it will be what we have always known it would be. but I have lots of names I wanted to name her if you want so names to think about....who knows you might like one?

Heather,
We are still in the same boat and the Rat Child is coming in just 4 days. I like Ella too...but will she have to fight Allison for the picture? (ha ha).

We had friends who couldn't come up with a name so they called him GUS for like 6 months!

I know a family that named their kids Sunshine, Star, Dusty, Forest, and Stormy. They weren't teased about their names and Sunshine even named her daughter Soliel which is French, I think, for Sunshine so she must not have hated her name too much if she gave one like it to her daughter. Sunny could be the nickname for Sunflower. Good luck deciding.

I overheard a mother talking to her kids at the library recently and her kids' names were Aslan,(yeah, just like Narnia) Zion, and something else that I had never heard before.

Personally, I think Star or Sunflower would flow perfectly with your family!!! Funny picks from your kidlets!

Well you could always go for the latest name that I heard at church which was "Lovestory" nice huh...

Yeah, I think naming the third was hard for us too. It's like you picked your favorite names for the first two and now what's left. You'll find a great name I am sure of it.

Don't make me hunt you down. Pick something!!!
( And don't do it the Sarah Palin way, either. What's up with those weird names?)

So...I know someone who named there boy and then a few days later the wife sent the husband down to the courthouse to change his name to something different. If all else fails, you can do that too! I love Ella too, but I just might have to use it too someday :)

Hey! Thanks for poppin' over to my blog. A little slow on the updates there, but keep checkin'. Names...hmmmm. Well, Sam named our boys and I named the girls. Of course, he definitely had an opinion on both. Camryn took a while and we finally agreed after I switched the spelling to 'yn' instead of 'on'. I even "surfed the net" to increase my chances of finding a name. I'm not Greek but I thought maybe...? French? Italian? Maybe you should check out China--everything else is made there, why not a name?
