City of Pasco

Dear City of Pasco,

As a resident of this wonderful city I'm writing to let you know how much I appreciate your early morning watering schedule. I realize that the time between 5:30 and 7:00 am is probably the ONLY convenient time for the sprinklers to water over the sidewalks but I would ask you to reconsider.

I know, I know, there are only a handful of citizens whose use of the sidewalks might conflict with your watering time, but I happen to be one of them. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy dodging spraying water by jumping sideways to the grass and rolling my ankle, but to be truthful it looks a little ridiculous that early in the morning.

And to be completely honest, by the end of my run I'm a little warm and sometimes I just quit dodging. Do you realize what that does for your grass? I am no waif of a girl- and when I don't dogde there is a significant portion of the grass whose water source is blocked by my badonkadonk. A few days of non-dodging could prove fateful to your meticulous landscaping.

Also, my iPod would appreciate a slightly dryer climate as it bounces dutifully along. It has a hard job. Playing all those upbeat songs so early in the morning is no small task and I would hate for one of your employees to be required to step into that role should the old "pod" decide to give up the ghost after a nice long watering.

My hope is that you might consider beginning the watering schedule at little earlier, say 2 or 3 am, as recommended by local sod companies for optimal watering results. Those out running at that time in the morning will not have the same issues I have cited, since the local police should catch up with them before them sprinkler spray would.

Thank your for your time and gracious consideration of my circumstances.

Signed,
Soggy & Groggy

That's hilarious, Heather! You go girl! Running at 5:30? Sounds like you're gonna be 15 pounds lighter than you are now the next time I see you!

I thought this was hilarious. I totally get you on the watering the sidewalk thing. And we're supposed to conserve water right? Good for you sticking with the running though, sprinklers or not.

OK, you are so funny! Well if you are running so early, why don't you run in the street. There shouldn't be any cars out yet, right? Yes, i haven't commented in a while, but i don't think i'm "slinging mud" at anyone. I am usually VERY good at commenting. By the way, "my saying" looks good at the top of your blog. LOL. ;)

Jack I just love giving you a hard time. And your saying looks WONDERFUL as the header- thanks for the use.

There are actually quite a few cars out at that time, so I'm pretty sure I would get nailed if I ran in the street.

Love It! You are so creative. You'll have to send it off and then report back what the city says. That post should be extra hilarious!

Send this in to the Herald! They would publish this and everyone who read it would get a great laugh. This cracked me up! Just the visuals of you dodging sprinklers, twisting your ankle, then not dodging them anymore and getting sprayed... HILARIOUS!!

I forget that other places aren't like Rexburg, empty. LOL. We don't want you being nailed. :)

I need to send a similar one to my county. It likes to run sprinklers at 7:15 in the morning. The wind likes to pick up the moisture and blow it in the street, when I'm driving by. Ticks me off, especially after a nice car wash.

You should send this to your local paper.

See the early morning run doesn't work for me. I am the late night runner. It works better.. and the city waters then here. Cute letter!

Golly! I thought you were talking about your sprinkler system at home!
When we first arrived in the States and were jet lagged and went 'walking around' to get to know our neighbourhood and had the shock of our lives when the sprinklers whirred into action gave us the shock of our lives! Welcome to America!
Cheers

I'm so glad that you came to Sarah's Baby Shower Tonight. It was nice to finally meet you. I love the letter. I wonder what City Of Pasco would actually say! Good job with waking up early. I've been trying hard to do that, but my motivation isn't that great. Oh well!

Funny post, you are a really good writer! I'm a night time runner, but I have the same problem in PG. I actually kind of like getting cooled down though.
