It does get worse

Does your daughter steal? Mine doesn't- at least that's what I thought until yesterday afternoon.

Out for a walk, I notice something silver sitting in the bottom of the stroller. I pick it up and discover that it is a nice Bath & Body Works home fragrance. Ok. It's annoying but I toss it back into the bottom of the stroller so I can take it back to the store tomorrow.

We finish our walk and hang out in the front yard (my kids think this is the biggest treat) and enjoy the nice day. The next thing I know Brynns has the oil open and dumped out onto the stroller tray and seat.

Great! I wanted to pay the $7.50 for the miniscule vial of oil that you just dumped all over. So much for being able to return the dang thing. So I get some rags from the garage to clean up the mess and before I can get back she had her hands covered in oil. AND before I can run over there and clean her up she starts screaming like a banshee because she has rubbed it all in her EYES!

So now I have to herd 4 kids into the house from the front yard and rinse out Brynnlee's eyes. Seriously, has anyone tried to do this to a 20 month old?? She was kicking and screaming, squirming, pinching, pulling hair and clothes and tossing her head back and forth. I'm not sure really how much rinsing I actually did, but I prayed that it was good enough and of course read the label on the oil to see, indeed, that it was an eye iritant.

I was still worried because everytime I tried to wipe her eye she cried. So I then took her up to the bathroom placed her in the bathtub, soaking wet clothes and all, and started rinsing her eyes out with a squirt bottle. I think that worked and since she wasn't laying down she wasn't freaking out as much. I didn't have clumps of my hair removed from my scalp this time.

Needless to say, I waited until this morning to post this- just in case she was blind when she woke up. I think she's A-OK, so now we can look back and laugh, I think.

Okay first of all, I'm going to say that I'm so glad that she's still seeing a beautiful world!

Second - is this one of those stories that should make me glad the preggo test was negative? LOL?

Isn't it amazing how our kids can cause such fear in us? I'm glad she is okay!

Poor Brynnlee ouch! The spray bottle idea is great. I am glad she can still see.

Glad to hear Brynnlee still has sight. It's amazing what trouble they get themselves into in a matter of seconds!

This is one of those trainwrecks that you occasionally experience as a parent that make you curse the fact that you can't bend back time and stop it from happening. Its an illogical thought, but everytime something happens like this, that is exactly what I do.

But I am glad your story has a happy ending!!

I'm glad you can laugh about it now because this image was cracking me up!! I'm glad she's okay though. You worded this hysterically! Great visuals!

Oh my gosh. I hate to say I was laughing but I was. I know you wouldn't have posted it this way otherwise. This will make a great story with lots of mileage. Glad she's ok.

Oh, is she full of mischief or what? She looks so sweet! These are true tests for our patience, you are probably a way more sympathetic mom than me.

If only I could tell you it will get better as she gets older.....if she's anything like Tia, and she is, she will only get sneaker, smarter and faster! (sigh)

I'm just curious what flavor the oil was? Did she at least smell good?

What a great blog story! You tell them so good, just like Kim said! So visual and hilarious! Glad Brynlee's okay. I'm surprised the squirting her in the face with the water bottle didn't have the same effect as the first rinsing attempt!

The oil, I should have mentioned, was blissful citrus watermint.

I can't get it out of the stroller and everytime we get in the car Jeremy says "Did you put a new air freshener in?" The stroller is permanently in the back of the Explorer.

Gosh, that sounds like a scary story! Yikes. Gotta love how fast they get into trouble! I'm glad she's doing ok!
