UTAH

How many times do we have to make this pilgrimage?

We usually try and keep it to once a year, but life doesn't always fit in with our plans.

My grandpa passed away on Saturday, so we packed up the car and headed out on Monday. Knowing full well we will have to make this trip again in a mere 5 week made the endurance of this particular drive treacherous.

Really. It is monotonous, and the agonizing 65 mph speed limit in Oregon does nothing for this already LONG drive.

But we made it!

Later I'll post pictures of our quick trip where we traveled almost 2000 miles in 5 days. The funeral for my Grandpa was in Lehi, UT. However, the burial was in Moab, UT which is another 4 hours south. It was a lot of driving, but as always, the opportunity to be with family again trumps my disdain of sitting in a car.

Glad to be home!

So sorry to hear about your Grandpa. Glad you're back, though. I was wondering where you've been. That drive is a little boring. Hope the kids were good for you!

I'm so sorry to hear about your Grandpa. I hope the funeral was good and that you're family is doing ok. It's amazing what we'll do for our family isn't it (drive forever and then some)? It's always worth it and I'm sure you're glad you went.

We know what is like to lose someone we love. Our Grandpa Selman (Mom's Dad) passed away last October. It seems like it was just as recently. We miss him alot but are grateful for his influence in our lives. We wish you peace and blessings as you reflect on your Grandpa's life.

Welcome back Heather. I was wondering where you were this week! That's a bummer about losing your grandpa! I know how the drive can be long, boring, and treacherous! Glad that you were able to see your family! That always helps the drive not be so miserable!

So tell me about your roommates at college that went to Hillcrest. That is so crazy. What year were you at Ricks? Where did you stay? I love to play the "Do you know who?" game!

I'm so sorry about your Grandpa. I know how hard it is to drive a long way for such a short time (we live in Southern Cali... family is in Idaho...)
On a different note, having lived in Oregon, I can TOTALLY agree on the stupid speed limit! There were always rumors about it going up, but I don't think it will... glad you got there and back safely.
