The Long and the Short of It

I had a Dr's appointment today.
I went in for the genetic test they do between 9-13 weeks.
They do an ultrasound and draw a bunch of blood.
Jeremy was on "kid duty", so I went alone.
No big deal, it's just a test and a follow-up....
Until they start the ultrasound and tell you they can't do the test.
"Ummm... the baby is measuring 16 weeks. It's too big so we can't do the test."
WHAT?!? I'm like 3 weeks ahead of schedule now?
Then the clincher.
"Are you interested in the sex of the baby?"
Uhhh... yeah.
Wait.
Jeremy's not here.
"I want to know but I should probably wait until my husband can be here too. I don't want him to be disappointed that he missed it" says the crazy woman with her bare belly exposed.
I was so tempted to just find out.
Then I called Jeremy and told him the crazy news.
He was so desperate to know the news that he sent me back to find out if they would tell us what the baby was.
Unfortunately the tech said she didn't even look since I told her I didn't want to know.
The moral of the story: Don't try and be a considerate wife, it doesn't get you where you want to be.
So my new due date is Oct 7th and we are dying because if I weren't trying to be so nice we would actually know what we are having right now. The suspense is killing us!

I think it is a boy! What are your motherly instincts? You were nice to wait for you hubby!

Wow I am shocked that you didn't say yes yes yes!!! Oh well another month and you will know for sure. I bet you are dying though.....

I'm totally getting the girl vibe. I'm way too cranky for it to be a sweet, mellow boy.

I know, Jess, I'm an idiot. I should have gone with my "motherly instincts".

You are way nicer than me. I would have been like "tough luck, I'm finding out right now with or without you". That is so exciting though that you are ahead of schedule!

That's what you get for being nice. Like it would have been any different coming from you rather than an ultrasound technician. Silly girl.

You are so much nicer than me. I would've said, give me the news. I can't believe that you are due Oct. 7th. That's my birthday, and my due date with Tyler. I ended up having him in September, so good luck. Congrats and I can't wait for you to tell us what you are having!

What in the world! I can't believe you didn't find out! Look on the bright side though, that just took 3 weeks off your due date! Hooray!

Heather,
If you go two or three weeks early like you did with Brynners...we could have our babies about the same time. Isn't that lovely. I wish I could move my date up 3 weeks you lucky duck!

A new due date that brings you closer to that blessed day, sheer heaven!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, I would have gotten the news and THEN remembered to think about the hubby not being there. Oops. :-) Good news on an earlier date, though, right?

I'll I saw reading this was pink for some reason. Maybe its your title color. But...Your a good woman Heather. And you made your man a priority in the matter. 3 weeks is along time to have done away with. That is lucky.

"don't try to be a considerate wife". Got it. Not a problem.

Can't wait to find out what #3 is either!! What do your kids think it is? Yay for an earlier due date, that's always fantastic news!!

Dude, that's awesome. Ok, it's not, but it's funny. (I would be totally kicking myself).

If I ever find myself in that situation I will totally NOT be the considerate wife; I will be selfish and demand to know. And if my husband asks why I couldn't wait? I'll say: "Heather told me to." ;-)

wow! that is hilarious though.I think I would have done the same thing though ....maybe....hmmm....maybe not. :)

I am so happy for you! Three weeks closer is HUGE!

And you rock in the wife department...

3 weeks sooner? Suh-weeet!

Yeah, I would have done the same thing...Um...but my husband's not here. And the same thing would have happened...Bill would have gotten mad at me for not finding out and then I would have been SO mad at myself for not just finding out. But still...three weeks sooner...and you'll be able to find out the sex of the baby soon, right?

Yeah, May 23rd is the next US.

That was so nice of you to wait for jeremy, may 23 is not so long and then you can be sure jeremy will be there for sure.

Well, it's either a boy or a girl. Ha ha! I know I'm being helpful!

Wow! I would be going crazy! You don't have too much longer to wait though. Isn't Kaden's birthday in October? Will their birthdays be close?

I think you should just not find out. Could you do it?

I think you need to take a poll. Then you could give a candy bar to whoever guessed right.....I like Reces!

I guess that would be a lot of candy bars to give out, but can you tell I could go for some chocolate right now? You probably could too after your ordeal....or at least to celebrate the 3 weeks sooner!

I'm trying to remember if my husband was there for ANY of the ultrasounds where we found out... I think he was with the second one. But the first and third I just told them to tell me :) I'm not as nice as you are!!

Heather-
Wow! I have never seen 27 comments on anyone's blog before- you are a loved blogger. I'm glad I got to hear the story on the phone today- it was so good to chat. Tyler informed me that I was on the phone for a LONG time :)

Oh that stinks! Will you have another chance to have an ultrasound and find out what you're having?

The closer due date is awesome though!
