Monetary Update

The penny has not been seen. However, Brynns did go #2 at Nicoles on Friday. Nicole (being the super friend she is) metal detected the "potty contents" and found nothing. Then she metal detected Brynnlee and found nothing.

So I'm giving her a clean bill of health, per Dr. Nic.

Isn't SHE adorable?
{in ultrasound-land terms}
She'll look 100% cuter come October, guaranteed.

Today is the Day

Boy or Girl??

Since this lovely gal pal agreed to take my kids I'm giving her a treat. I know, as if watching K & B isn't a fabulous treat in and of itself, but I bribed her a little more. If she would agree to keep them she would also get to be numero uno to find out what the baby is!! Jealous? Yeah, I thought not.

But regardless, I can't wait!

I Didn't Get any Lagoon Coupons but I Got a Good Little Chuckle

As I was flipping through Deseret Book's latest catalog the other day I noticed they had some movies advertised. But these were like normal, Hollywood produced movies not the typical mormon ones. Two of the movies I have seen, and I like them and think they are cute. So, I'm not trying to be all judgemental BUT I did find it ironic because I haven't seen either of these movies forever and I still know that in
The Princess Bride
{Uhhh... cute little Fred Savage totally says
"*****, Grandpa why are you reading this" or something kinda like that}
E.T.
{This little guy get's toasted on some Coors }
In.ter.esting.
Maybe it's the pregnancy, but seeing these in Desert Book just totally cracked me up. Perhaps they should stick to Baptist's At Our Barbeque, Singles Ward and Charlie. I think those are a little safer for the general population.

Waiting Game

We are all patiently waiting for this to make it's appearance.

Unfortunately, to find it we need to look in here.

All because someone decided the best way to keep your brother from getting the penny during a rousing game of Keep Away is to pop it in your mouth and swallow it.

Brilliant.

At least she's darn cute.

Just another day in paradise...

{Disclaimer: Before you begin reading, please realize this post is all in good fun and I harbor no ill feelings toward anyone.... cross my heart and hope to die}

Today as I was taking Kaden to preschool I turn down a street that I know is generally busy at this time. I expect lots of traffic and shuttling, no big deal. I'm a relatively calm and laid back person, it really doesn't bother me. I realize that everyone is just trying to get somewhere.

So today there are a line of cars parked down my side of the street and someone stopped in the middle of the street chatting. Which is kind of annoying but whatever, I CAN go around. No big deal. Except for today there is an unusual amount of traffic coming from the opposite direction. This road was in no way meant to be a 4-laner and with it being 3 cars deep already there is no possible way for me to get around this car. So I wait, and wait and then two other cars show up behind me and I decide to tap my horn. Ya know, in case this lady just doesn't realize she is holding up traffic. And still she does not move. Ok...

Finally, there is a break in traffic and I go around. You may think this is why I'm blogging. Nope, this didn't even phase me. I'm often guilty of chatting in the road and being totally oblivious to traffic around me. No way am I going to fault someone else for this.

What kills me is that as I drove back by these ladies were chatting {the car was now parked legally on the side of the road} and when I drove past one of them stared me down giving me the dirtiest look EVER. I didn't know whether I should laugh or cry. It was a super-duper-nasty-crusty-I-hate-you-why-would-you-ever-beep-your-horn-at-me death stare. I know, right?

And the best part is that she is in my stake. I'm sure she has no idea who I am but I know have seen her on many occasions. Can't we all get along??

Maternity Wardrobe

Even if it's not entirely true for me, this shirt cracks me up. It's just the disclaimer I need.

This would save some explaining on other days.

Think I could get away with a shade shirt under this baby?

And with Father's Day just around the corner....

Linkage

My friend Sarah is asking some great questions these days. And I find myself wondering the same things quite often- it must just be a part of motherhood. But if anyone has any answers for the laundry portion, I'd be most grateful.

Let me also direct you to one of the most fun family traditions. I'm not family but I still enjoy it. Jared makes a "book" for Linds every year for Mother's Day. This years: How to Train Your Mommy does not dissapoint. It's from Dirty South, of course it's gonna be hilarious.

Mother's Day

Let's just say this weekend made up for Friday. Saturday Jeremy and I took the kids to the Safe Kids fair at Kadlec. We got the kids new bike helmets, visited lots of booths, looked at firetrucks, and Kaden learned how to dial 9-1-1, and escape his room during a fire. It was nice just to be outside and walk around with the kids.

We had lunch at McDonalds and then loaded up bikes, flowers, baskets, etc and headed to Jeremy's parents. Carol-Lynn and I put together our hanging baskets for our porches and Jeremy took the kids arcoss the street to the church to ride bikes. He was attempting to teach Kaden to ride without training wheels. He said Kaden would be fine until he realized Jeremy wasn't holding anymore. Typical.

Then he brought the kids back over and since the hanging baskets were far from finished he worked in the yard a while longer. I'll post pictures of my baskets when they aren't looking so sad. Right now the plants are recovering, and the basket looks really skimpy.

Dinner with the Bate's later that night didn't disappoint. Jeremy and I are always amazed at how much fun we have with Jared and Lindsay when we do NOTHING. Seriously, they are those friends you just eat and talk with and life is good.

Sunday was beautiful. I was the first in the shower and last down to breakfast (usually it's the opposite. The kids were sure to point out that "dad did everything" when I told them thanks for the breakfast, flowers and pedicure gift certificate. At least they don't try and take credit for something they didn't do. This year Kaden acutally got up to sing with the primary in Sacrament! I'm sure me going up on the stand might have had something to do with it, but I'll take what I can get. I went to Relief Society and the Bishop gave a great lesson.

We came home had a quick lunch and attempted to put kids down for a nap. Not so successful. Then Jeremy and I got stuff ready for dinner that night. Well, mostly Jeremy worked but I did keep him company.

Jeremy's parents and sisters came over with their families. With all our families getting bigger and busier it is not very often that we all get a chance to be together. It was really fun to just hang out. Maybe soon Warren and Bre will be back to complete the madness.

My friend Kristin asked me after church what we were doing and I told her about our plans. She asked what we were doing for dinner. I think she was a little shocked when I told her "green chile cheeseburgers". Hey, it may be weird but that's was just what hit the spot on this Mother's Day. I loved these growing up and Jeremy has his first last October at my uncle's house. He couldn't believe I had been holding out on him for the last 8 years. Jeremy even roasted them right on the grill, so YUM! Maybe I'll have another one today...

Thanks Jeremy for making me feel so appreciated. It makes those "crazy Fridays" bearable when you know your effort isn't for naught.

Some days it doesn't pay to climb out of bed

Today is one of those days.

Last night I was sick before bed. Insomnia took hold about 3:30 and didn't relent until Jeremy's alarm went off at 6:00am.

Today is wash day so I am sporting a lovely combo of a green and white horizontal striped shirt and brown sweats.

Kaden and Brynnlee would not get dressed and insisted on running around the house. Finally, the charade ended when Brynns knocked over a fairly full cup of grape juice. Normally not a huge deal, but today she decided to sit on the side of the table closest to the kid-friendly cream carpet in the family room. So I send Kaden up to get dressed and Brynns helps me blot the mess with towels. I send her with the towels to the laundry room and to get a diaper and clothes.

Meanwhile, I vacuum and begin to shampoo the mess to salvage our already "very worn" carpet. Brynnlee comes back down sans clothes or a diaper, but smelling oh so lovely! I send her back up to get clothes and a diaper. Mid-shampoo I hear an enormous crash, but no crying. Which means, she has done some serious damage and yet not managed to kill herself. So I break from shampooing and rush upstairs to find she has used her superwoman powers to pull her enormous changing table drawer off its track and spill it's contents (80+ diapers and two pull-ups) all over the floor. Mess gets cleaned up. Diaper changed. Baby girl dressed. Resume shampooing.

Then I call Eden to chat. That conversation doesn't last long since Kaden has decided that the 100+ times Jeremy and I have told him not to swing the bat when people are around isn't sound advice. In seemingly slow motion, he cracks the bat right across Gavin's face just above his eye. No split, just a bump the size of a golf ball. It's only 10:38 at this point.

Later on good news. Free gas. So I load 5 children into carseats and start down the road, only to have my SIL Jessica call a few minutes later to tell me the person in front of her was the last one to get the deal. Bummer for both of us, and Jeremy who showed up 2 mins later.

Not wanting to waste a 5 child load up I decided to head to the park. I've had enough, and so have the kids. We arrive and unbuckle only to realize Brynns has made it into the car with no shoes. At this point I don't care and just let her out.

Then I see two moms sitting there. GREAT. Just what I need, when I look atrocious, have a child with uncombed hair, no shoes and 4 others tagging along. At least it was two girls from the "old ward". They graciously share the blanket and I'm relieved to avoid the stares and disgusted looks I might have gotten from others.

Now we are home and almost everyone is sleeping... this 9 month old is killin me!

Someday I will look back on this day and laugh, but right now I just want to go to bed and start fresh tomorrow.

No woman is more beautiful than when she is pregnant

This weekend I commissioned Jeremy to pull out the "maternity bin" from the garage. Usually I find going through things I have not seen in a while to be enjoyable. This is not one of those times. This is just sorting through clothes I don't want to see, much less wear, ever again.

In an effort to compliment my curvy new pregnant shape my lips have decided to not be left out of the action. I have been blessed with not one but TWO cold sores this week. Yes my lips are ever so pouty and full. I know, I know. You are all dying of jealousy inside.

Rockstar Visiting Teachers

The other night my very pregnant visiting teaching partner and myself drug ourselves over to an 8:15 PM appointment on the last day of the month no less {don't give me any grief, we are trying our best}. We were both tired, but we are trying to be diligent in our efforts. Baseball season is not helping anyones schedules these days!

I haven't done any visiting teaching in the evening since Kaden was born, and I don't know what happens after 8:30 but apparently we women get a little crazy. The entire visit we just laughed and laughed and laughed some more. I guess it does help that Chelsea is seriously ONE funny girl and her family is pretty entertaining as well.

Well... then that time rolled around. You all know what I'm talking about. When you try and find a good break in the conversation so you can akwardly say "Well I guess I should give you the lesson". So I make my random statement to announce our soon-to-come departure and I could not keep a straight face. Really, I'm a grown woman. I should have some composure, right? Especially when it comes to talking about marriage and giving a spiritual thought.

Nope. So I'll work on that for next month.

Anyway, I muscled through and wrapped it up. Just as we were about to leave I noticed her kids in the other room playing what I thought was guitar hero. I mentioned how I like playing that at my nephews' house. It actually was the game Rock Band. I told Chelsea how I have heard from so many people how much fun this game was. She said it was awesome and insisted we try it out. I was a little hesitant cuz her whole family and her husband are there watching, but that didn't deter me too much. I'm not one to worry too much about how dorky I look- ya know, as long as I'm having a good time. And Kristin was there, she is always adventurous.

Picture in your mind super prego Kristin rockin' on the base guitar, me on drums, Chelsea on vocals, and her son doing lead guitar. Talk about riotous. I could hardly do my drum solo because of all the laughter coming from my mouth. Then we switched up the instruments and had another go at it. Her husband was even trying to give me some tips... apparently my guitar playing was a little disappointing? I can't imagine.

So Karen, let this be a little lesson on how visiting teaching actually can enrich your life... next time I'll invite you do a "ride along". I'll try and schedule the appointment early on in the month so you can be sure to still be pregnant right alone with me and Kristin.
