The other night my very pregnant visiting teaching partner and myself drug ourselves over to an 8:15 PM appointment on the last day of the month no less {don't give me any grief, we are trying our best}. We were both tired, but we are trying to be diligent in our efforts. Baseball season is not helping anyones schedules these days!
I haven't done any visiting teaching in the evening since Kaden was born, and I don't know what happens after 8:30 but apparently we women get a little crazy. The entire visit we just laughed and laughed and laughed some more. I guess it does help that Chelsea is seriously ONE funny girl and her family is pretty entertaining as well.
Well... then that time rolled around. You all know what I'm talking about. When you try and find a good break in the conversation so you can akwardly say "Well I guess I should give you the lesson". So I make my random statement to announce our soon-to-come departure and I could not keep a straight face. Really, I'm a grown woman. I should have some composure, right? Especially when it comes to talking about marriage and giving a spiritual thought.
Nope. So I'll work on that for next month.
Anyway, I muscled through and wrapped it up. Just as we were about to leave I noticed her kids in the other room playing what I thought was guitar hero. I mentioned how I like playing that at my nephews' house. It actually was the game Rock Band. I told Chelsea how I have heard from so many people how much fun this game was. She said it was awesome and insisted we try it out. I was a little hesitant cuz her whole family and her husband are there watching, but that didn't deter me too much. I'm not one to worry too much about how dorky I look- ya know, as long as I'm having a good time. And Kristin was there, she is always adventurous.
Picture in your mind super prego Kristin rockin' on the base guitar, me on drums, Chelsea on vocals, and her son doing lead guitar. Talk about riotous. I could hardly do my drum solo because of all the laughter coming from my mouth. Then we switched up the instruments and had another go at it. Her husband was even trying to give me some tips... apparently my guitar playing was a little disappointing? I can't imagine.
So Karen, let this be a little lesson on how visiting teaching actually can enrich your life... next time I'll invite you do a "ride along". I'll try and schedule the appointment early on in the month so you can be sure to still be pregnant right alone with me and Kristin.

Now that's my kind of visiting teaching!!
Don't worry, on Sunday when I was doing mine we were laughing pretty hard, and then I got chosen to pray. Yeah, that was not easy!
I am a boring visiting teacher. This is one for the books.
I'm thrilled you had fun. I'm not usually one to let go, but when it comes to good music and friends, it's scary what can happen.
Nothing cool like that happens when I go out! Of course, I have had to send cards to the ladies I visit because they won't return phone calls... EVER.
Awesome dudette! You Rock! I want your route. I am not much better than you, I went out the DAY before you!
Rock Band is really fun...I can't think of a better way to end a V.T. appointment.
Best visiting teaching appt ever. I would have paid $ to see you guys rockin' out.
By the way, totally laughed when you mentioned the break in the conversation where you then awkwardly start the lesson. I totally do that and I'm completely awkward about it.
I could feel that lull when we want to say the lesson without appearing like hurry up already. So intense. I really want an album from you guys. "The preaching pregos". I hope this doesn't start a VT gone wild trend.
Can I come next time too? That is so cool!
I also feel ya on the super awkward, "Okay. Well, I guess we should give the lesson" moments. I hate that part cuz I always sound like a moron.
I want to come next time.
Sorry we didn't do anything fun back in the day when you and Cindy taught me. Just think of all the fun we could have had.
I'm glad you guys had so much fun!
That sounds like such a fun visit,I am glad the visit was a blast.
wow, i feel that I have been doing it all wrong now :)
That really is pretty darn hilarious though, and I love how you described it as riotous.....havn't heard that one for YEARS!! lol
Who knew visiting teaching could be so fun? Seriously, it is something I "have" to do. I have not gained a testimony about it yet. Mainly I do it because I'm scared to tell my supervisor who calls every month "no" again. I really would have paid good money to see you two preggos rocking out with Chelsae's family.
Pleeeeze will you be my visiting teacher?
I would love to play with you. We have guitar hero, and I'm terrible. All my kids play on expert, but I'm still on beginner.
That sounds way more fun than what I'm used to. Guess I need to spice up my V.T. appointments a little!
I've mastered the medium level and beat my husband's high score on "Welcome to the Jungle", neither of which was accomplished while fulfilling any kind of calling. You get extra points.
How fun!
The ladies I visit are older so I don't think I'll ever have a night like yours.
I can only wonder what might happen next month!!
Seriously, the best VT appointment I have ever been on. I laughed so hard I was practically in tears. And who knew you could be huge and pregnant and still feel like a rock star!
How fun! We all need good laughter...what a great memory and you documented it so well.
