Slow Learners

After 8 1/2 years of marriage with just a mattress, I'm pleased to announce that we finally got a headboard AND foot board for our bed. {I know, right? Like, we are totally moving our way up to 1st class!} But, also with this new addition comes about 6 inches of added length to the bed. Can you see the predicament coming?

Yes. Jeremy and I both have ugly, vicious bruises on our thighs because after years of walking around our bed in the dark we just can't seem to adjust to the newness of it all. I'm telling you that corner on the foot board is mighty sharp. Saddest part? There are multiples bruises on multiple legs. Creatures of habit, undoubtedly.

Jack and I will have this same problem someday when we get a headboard and foot board. I got hurt like 4 times this weekend at my Sister's house. UGH.

Hubby and I are with you on that one. We have been 5 1/2 years with out them. But after reading about your poor legs maybe it will be place lower on the purchase list.

I wanna see pictures. Nathan and I have been talking about furniture, and a bedroom set in close to the top of my list. I am sure it's awesome.

We've been married 12 years and still no headboard or footboard. But thanks for the warning! When we do get one, I'll watch out for those corners.

George and Weezie would be proud.

I don't have a headboard, but would like one.....someday. I don't think I'll ever get a footboard; thanks for the warning.

I feel your pain! When we got our foot and head board I stubbed my toes over and over. I'm pretty sure the one time I broke it. It got really swollen and turned black. Fun times!

Ha, we are the exact opposite. We used to have a big head board and foot board and took them off because of what a pain they were. Hope you adjust to yours soon!

Headboards and footboards are charming enough that they're worth a few bruises, right.

Maybe some bubble wrap until the newness wears off?

Ouch for the bruises! Maybe that was Bella and Edward's problem, headboards getting in the way? ;) But congrats on finally getting the foot and headboard, we don't even own a piece of furniture yet (furnished apts), so this is a mighty feat in my book!

Well your a step ahead of us then, we've been married 10 1/2 years and still only have the metal frame the bed came with and the mattresses. So I'm afraid we'll be the same when and if we ever get a headboard too.

Good luck breaking that habit!
We're still headboard and footboardless. Maybe we'll stay that way. It sounds dangerous.

This is so funny because we have had a head/footboard for 8 years and still have bruises. I have learned to walk with my hand following the footboard so I know when to turn.

Now this is what I don't get: I sleep on the farthest side of the bed. When my girls get up during the night you would think that they would walk the straight line to dad. But nooo, they walk around the bed to me. (And Dakotah always, without fail, closes our closet door on her way.)
