Mother's Day

Let's just say this weekend made up for Friday. Saturday Jeremy and I took the kids to the Safe Kids fair at Kadlec. We got the kids new bike helmets, visited lots of booths, looked at firetrucks, and Kaden learned how to dial 9-1-1, and escape his room during a fire. It was nice just to be outside and walk around with the kids.

We had lunch at McDonalds and then loaded up bikes, flowers, baskets, etc and headed to Jeremy's parents. Carol-Lynn and I put together our hanging baskets for our porches and Jeremy took the kids arcoss the street to the church to ride bikes. He was attempting to teach Kaden to ride without training wheels. He said Kaden would be fine until he realized Jeremy wasn't holding anymore. Typical.

Then he brought the kids back over and since the hanging baskets were far from finished he worked in the yard a while longer. I'll post pictures of my baskets when they aren't looking so sad. Right now the plants are recovering, and the basket looks really skimpy.

Dinner with the Bate's later that night didn't disappoint. Jeremy and I are always amazed at how much fun we have with Jared and Lindsay when we do NOTHING. Seriously, they are those friends you just eat and talk with and life is good.

Sunday was beautiful. I was the first in the shower and last down to breakfast (usually it's the opposite. The kids were sure to point out that "dad did everything" when I told them thanks for the breakfast, flowers and pedicure gift certificate. At least they don't try and take credit for something they didn't do. This year Kaden acutally got up to sing with the primary in Sacrament! I'm sure me going up on the stand might have had something to do with it, but I'll take what I can get. I went to Relief Society and the Bishop gave a great lesson.

We came home had a quick lunch and attempted to put kids down for a nap. Not so successful. Then Jeremy and I got stuff ready for dinner that night. Well, mostly Jeremy worked but I did keep him company.

Jeremy's parents and sisters came over with their families. With all our families getting bigger and busier it is not very often that we all get a chance to be together. It was really fun to just hang out. Maybe soon Warren and Bre will be back to complete the madness.

My friend Kristin asked me after church what we were doing and I told her about our plans. She asked what we were doing for dinner. I think she was a little shocked when I told her "green chile cheeseburgers". Hey, it may be weird but that's was just what hit the spot on this Mother's Day. I loved these growing up and Jeremy has his first last October at my uncle's house. He couldn't believe I had been holding out on him for the last 8 years. Jeremy even roasted them right on the grill, so YUM! Maybe I'll have another one today...

Thanks Jeremy for making me feel so appreciated. It makes those "crazy Fridays" bearable when you know your effort isn't for naught.

Ok. This is how complicated it is. You grill a hamburger, put cheese on it (cheddar is classic but pepper jack is good too), and top it with a whole green chili roasted on the grill for just a minute.

We just buy the whole canned green chili's and slice down one side to make it lay flat.

Top your burger with all the goods: tomato, onion, avacado, etc...
