This past Sunday the ward officially sustained me as a Ward Organist. Say what? {Yeah, I'm right there with ya.} So really, the only thing that has changed since that fateful Sunday last year is that now I suppose I can that say that I play the organ.
How many mistakes do you think they'll let me have before they officially rescind their offer? My guess is waaaay too many.

I put Hayley in a charter school called Alice King (it's near the big 24 theatre) She just started after christmas and is loving it!
You'll do a great job, you always do!
That is awesome, I can't wait to hear you on Sunday, you are going to do great :)
Oh Heather, I feel for you. Isn't it so much fun being put on the spot? Good luck!
Sorry, Heather. It's a life sentence. You'll do great! and the more you play, the easier it will get!
I am sure you'll do great:)
Did they give you a key to the building so that you can go practice?
I'm such a tard that I didn't even realize that the organ and piano were drastically different. Shows how much I pay attention. I'm sure you'll be great!
The Church likes to turn pianists into organists. What's up with that? Maybe because organ playing is a dieing breed.
You'll do great!!
(So glad I don't play the piano...)
And yet another reason that I am glad to not be musically inclined ;)
You'll do a great job! You can come practice on Saturdays when I'm making my ward bulletin copies...I've got a key!!!!(well, my husband does anyway.)
You could always play the hynms twice as slow as they should be. Nothing like slowing the meeting right down. LOL!! Good luck with the new calling.
Oh Gosh. I'm with Kirsten. Only I play slow because I HAVE to. and NEVER on the organ!
Heather, awesome. I will be sure to send you some good vibes every sunday. You will be awesome, if you have any questions give John a call. :)
I didn't realize you hadn't already had that calling before! You will do great! make sure you play around with all the diffrent sounds and contemplate how the mood of the song should come across, use your different stops to achieve that sound, my friend told me to always play faster then you feel comfortable with because the congregation will drag you into playing slower and slower with each verse. that was the best advice I ever got for the organ. GOOD LUCK! you will do great with this like you do everything else! =)
Better you than me!!
In my experience, yes it IS all about the perspective.
PS If you hear positive things about KC, then you're automatically released and I will come to see you. I promise.
I'll even bring something nice, if you want.
Is that enough of a bribe?
