A Weekend to Upstage All Weekends, or at least get mentioned on the blog.

There is something so amazing about picking grapes. If you haven't tried it, call me. I'm going again later this week. I don't know. I guess it brings back memories of that movie "A Walk in the Clouds". I think it is so fun... but then again I only do it for like an hour.

After the fun part of picking grapes came the less interesting part of juicing them. Although juicing grapes is by far the easiest canning, hands down.

Since I was detained in the juice factory Saturday I sent Jeremy to Costco for some clams and 1/2 & 1/2. Guess what our plans for Sunday dinner were (clam chowder). They had their Adidas running pants for a cheap- $19.99. Jeremy surprised me by bringing home a pair for me... Love it. He was probably sick of me borrowing his running pants the last few mornings.

It was a long day. Picking grapes and hanging around the kitchen the rest of Saturday AFTER those darn early morning piano lessons and getting a mere 3 hours of sleep the night before, Jeremy thoughtfully sent me to Kohl's Saturday night. All. By. Myself. It was so nice, and weird. But I got a super adorable sweater, and I'm glad that I have great friends that complimented me on it, because I did have someone ask me on Sunday when I was due. I hate when that happens!

About that 3 hours of sleep. The rouge Relief Society party was so fun! Despite all the crazy karaoke in the background I still managed to have some great conversations and catch up with people I never see, even though we are in the same ward and live 3 minutes away. I guess that's how it goes when your ward is permantly stuck with 600 (+or-) members.

As I meandered out of Nichol's house shortly before 2 am the other Nicole and I had real intentions of going home. BUT you know how it goes when you get into a really great, deep conversation. Needless to say I arrived home about 3:30, and didn't get to bed till almost 4.

But the lack of sleep was totally worth the great conversation! That was my weekend in a nutshell. Like you care, but hey I may publish this as my family history and I wouldn't want to spare my posterity the amazing details of my life!!

Is it really true... Is grape juice easy to can? My neighbor gave me some grapes and lent me her juicer to give it a try. I am a little nervous because I have never canned Grape juice before. It it works out I would love to go pick some more grapes with you. Your R.S. party sounds like it was a blast.

You are the canning queen!

That's so cool that Jeremy sent you out to shop all by your lonesome. I'm sorry you got asked "the question". That's never a good thing when you're not actually pregnant!

Hopefully you've caught up on your sleep after having such a great time at your R.S. party. Good for Nichol for putting that together!

This sounds like it was quite a weekend...I am sure the sweater looks great on you! And new runningpants from a thoughtful husband make it even better!

All that busy stuff this weekend AND you invited a poor pathetic girl and her daughter over for dinner on Sunday! You're the best, Heather! Thanks so much!

shopping by oneself is what I call crack for the SAHM - I feel inspired to go shopping for sweaters!

You might think these details of your life are boring, but they are enjoyable to read to all of us non-canners out there. Would you mind giving a step-by-step description of how you do the grape juice?

HA! Steele you are killing me. Post a pic of the new sweater you buy while on "crack".

That conversation was so worth being extremely tired all day Saturday. I think I might finally be feeling recovered - maybe.

Your sweater is absolutely hot! because I don't want to call it cute for fear that you'll think you look 11;)

WTG on the grapes. I would love to join you and learn a little - when are you doing it actually?

Man, I actually have to sign in to leave this comment, thus exciting a few of you that I may actually have a blog - nope, still no blog - sorry!

We had to can grape juice every fall while I was growing up and I think it was about the worst chore we ever had to do. First you pick the grapes and fight the bees. then you wash the grapes and all the earwigs and spiders come floating to the top- you feel like you have things crawing on you for days! Then you house gets so blasted hot as you juice the grapes and then you have about 75,000 fruit flies infest your kitchen for about a week.

By that small rant you can tell that I am still tortured by the thought of it!

I am amazed at you canning ability! I think I'm with Brooklet though, canning all those years with mom, I shudder at the thought at even attempting. Good to know I have a connection with someone who does can........you know if I ever need some food storage LOL!
